Indian weddings many times are elaborate affairs which is something I can really appreciate. I love celebrations and I firmly believe it is one of the best parts of life - being able to celebrate any and all accomplishments and life events in a huge way. I also believe in keeping your cool and handling things with grace so even though celebrations might be big, don't lose your cool. Nipa's Hindu wedding was the first one I photographed. It involved a 2 day celebration beginning with mendhi for family and friends, the groom's puja and then the sangeet. This photo was taken on the second day of festivities prior to the ceremony. I loved these few quiet moments with the bride as she put on the jewelry that her mother had begun saving for her since she was born. Indian bridal details are intricate and each have special meaning to the bride and her family. The weekend was very hectic and Nipa handled everything with such an amazing and calm demeanor. This was moments before the ceremony while her groom was off making his grand entrance and I know she was anxious to get a glimpse of the baraat but she embraced this quiet moments, the last few as a single woman. This Philadelphia indian wedding ceremony was held at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown. The staff was accommodating to the vendors and staff as well as the bride, groom and their families.
