This bride and groom portrait at the Belle Voir Manor was taken during a very hot summer day. Sometimes I like to light my couples dramatically by placing them directly in front of the sun but in this case it was just too hot outside. Most of this couple's portraits were taken while attempting to hide in the shade to get a little bit of relief from the heat. There is nothing wrong with photographing brides and grooms in the shade, it is a very simple and clean result in the portraits. I love this photo because of its simplicity and tradition. This is a photo that the parents and grandparents would love and something that would probably become an heirloom. I follow a photo-journalistic style to my weddings while also incorporating some of these traditional photos. They don't take a lot of time to do and they make family members happy. Although this photo is simple I love that you can see the pop of sun coming in the back where the leaves look brighter. This gave some texture to the trees. I also love the cream tones at Belle Voir contrasting with the groom's tux and the pop of color from the bride's bouquet. Belle Voir Manor and Pen Ryn Estate are unique venues in Bucks County. They provide beautiful spaces for ceremony and reception while also having gorgeous backdrops for photos.
