I love the iconic wedding photo portait taken down Broad Street with City Hall in the background. Everyone photographer puts their spin on the photo whether it is taken during the day or night and I love the variations that are captured throughout the years. Easily enough, the reception venue was located perfectly for this photo and with the sun setting rather early on this December wedding day, we opted for a night time portrait outside. Despite the freezing weather and day-long ice storm, our bride and groom loved to get outside and take a breather from their reception. All of the formal photos were done and anything from this point on was just a bonus. This, combined with the dramatic lighting, is the reason I love night time portraits. The couples really show their personality at this point. I'm not sure if it is cocktails thrown back during dinner or the fact that the stress of the day is gone but either way, it's a great way to end a busy day or storytelling. The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts was an amazing location for an elegant wedding and is centrally located to several amazing spots for photos. PAFA also provides space for ceremonies although this couple in particular opted for a traditional Church ceremony.
