The naked wedding cake trend is definitely one that I am on board with. I love the simplicity of the cakes and the blank canvas to add flowers or some other kind of decoration. I also love them because I don't like a lot of frosting on my cakes! This naked wedding cake for a fall Indian wedding was made by Finley Catering for a Crystal Tea Room reception. Finley Catering is the exclusive caterer for many different Philadelphia venues including the Crystal Tea Room, Finley Catering and Ballroom at the Ben. The elegant woodwork inside the Crystal Tea Room lends itself to a wide variety of decor ranging from opulent golds and metals to rustic elements. This Indian wedding held on Labor Day weekend brought the nature inside for their decor. The bonsai tree centerpieces paired well with the naked cake shown here. I love photographing cakes during the cocktail hour. At this point of the day all of the really important photos have been taken and the bride and groom are off enjoying their cocktail hour. After we set up our lights we go around the room to photograph the reception details. The cake always stands out to me. I love photographing the cake through other elements in the room that give some dimension and texture to the photo. This photo was taken while shooting through one of the bonsai tree centerpieces.
