Much of the wedding photography that happens in Philadelphia will happen in Washington Square Park. The park is located within walking distance to many different venues such as the Downtown Club and Hotel Monaco. The park is typically less crowded than Rittenhouse Square which makes it a great area for photos. A permit is required and the price increases depending on how many people will be photographed so keep this in mind when planning your wedding. Our bride and groom had their first look out front of the Downtown Club and then we walked to Washington Square Park for their photos together. They were a joy to work with and had so much fun during their photos. Their personalities really shined through and we were able to not only get great photos of them for tradition sake but also some really fun candids that showed their personalities. It was a cold day for this winter wedding so the bridal party joined as later for photos and brought a wrap for the bride. All bridal party and formal photos were done here in Washington Square Park and prior to the ceremony. I recommend this for my couples mostly during daylight savings when it will be dark after the ceremony. Otherwise, a first look isn't always necessary and I leave the decision up to the bride and groom.
