Washington Square Park in Philadelphia is a very popular location for wedding photos. The park is considered a historical site and photographers are required to have permits. Along with Washington Square Park many couples also have their photos taken at the Second Bank or Merchants Exchange building which are also both covered by the same permit. This photo was taken prior to the ceremony in late afternoon in October. The weather was perfect for this fall wedding and I love the direct sunlight on the bride and groom. Along with photos in the park we also photographed the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. at City Hall. This is such a popular location for photos because of all of the great venues nearby such as Union Trust, the Downtown Club, Hotel Monaco, The Curtis Center and so many more. While these popular locations are great for photos sometimes it is best to just walk around the city to find the great light and interesting location that are unique to the couple and also not as widely known or used. Old city in Philadelphia has so many great nooks and crannies, historic alleys, and great architecture! Sometimes the wedding day timeline doesn't allow for exploration but maybe even an extra 5 minutes can make all of the difference in your wedding portraits.
